Within Multi-Sensory and Engagement Pathways, discrete PHSE topics will not be taught as standalone lessons. This is because we believe that pupils within these pathways require individualised targets that promote independence and prepare them for adult life. These targets are interwoven into all curriculum areas however each week there is a session whereby pupils receive specific, focused one to one support to embed and extend their learning. These targets are continually reviewed and revisited to meet individual needs.
Pupils within Progression and Functional Pathways, follow a rolling programme of PSHE topics. There are six topic areas; Self-awareness, Self-care Support and Security, Managing Feelings, Changing and Growing, Healthy Lifestyles and The World I Live In. In addition, pupils take part in weekly Life Skills sessions. For classes who follow the ASDAN accreditation, the teacher will aim to cover areas of PSHE from the programme not already covered through ASDAN to make sure that pupils have a full coverage of KS4 PSHE.
