The house names given to each classroom are from local pottery firms. This acknowledges the close links between the school, local industry and the people of the Potteries. Class size is determined by the pupils’ individual needs. We have a primary and secondary wing within the school. PMLD classes are located on each wing.
From September 2019, classes will be divided into different pathways in order to fully meet the individual needs of the pupils. The pathways are fluid and pupils may move from one pathway to another if their needs change. Classes within each pathway may also change from year to year dependent on the educational needs of the pupils.
The classes within each pathway for academic year 2020-21 are as follows:
Multi-Sensory Pathway – Lead Kathy Walsh.
This pathway is for pupils who used to be in our PMLD department and will be made up of the following classes:
Doulton 1, Doulton 2, Coalport 1, Coalport 2, Coaport 3 and Maple
Engagement Pathway– Lead Cath Hulse
This pathway is for pupils who would benefit from a more sensory, topic based curriculum and will be made up of the following classes:
Spode 1, Spode 2, Paragon 1, Paragon 2, Bridgewater 2 and Wedgwood 2
Progression Pathway – Lead Hannah Phillips
This pathway is for pupils who would benefit from a subject based, topic curriculum and will be made up of the following classes:
Bridgewater 1, Gladstone 1, Gladstone 2, Wedgwood 1, Minton 2 and Regency 2
Functional Pathway – Lead Lowri Thorburn.
This pathway is for pupils from Year 8 who are working towards preparation for adulthood and will be made up of the following classes:
Regency 1, Minton 1, Aynsley 1 and Aynsley 2
